The application to be a part of the Winter 2026 – Spring 2026 cohort is now closed.
The Minority Serving Institution Research Academy (MSIRA) offers students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in research. Successful applicants will be invited to enroll in POSC 114L, a 4-unit course. After completing POSC 114L, MSIRA will match selected students with faculty mentors who will work closely with them on research projects. This mentored research will require enrollment in POSC 197, a 4-unit course that serves as a 12-hour-per-week apprenticeship.
Students who complete both the course and the apprenticeship will receive a certificate of completion, and recognition as an MSIRA fellow on our website.
